Gaining Experience in Health

Work Experience programmes are offered to those aged 16+ who live within the Coventry and Warwickshire regions. Each trust included in the hub offers different oppurtunities within the organisations due to the service they provide to patients. For any placement within a trust there are requirements you will have to meet before a placement can be offered to you. Such as completing an application form, an occupational health form and an honorary contract.

George Eliot Hospital

Work experience opportunities are unpaid, last between 1-3 days in length and are open to applicants who are in Year 12 or above. 2020 dates will be advertised on the workshops page. They also offer NHS career taster days.

Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust

Offer two days in a clinical setting in Nuneaton for those between 17 and 18; aged 18+ can offer two days in Coventry. Admin placements for Year 12 students are for two days up to one week and these could be anywhere in the Trust within Warwickshire.

University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire

UHCW supports a range of experiences in the workplace for school, college and university students who want to gain an insight into careers within the NHS or need to spend some time in a relevant department as part of their studies.

We also offer work experience to students from *14 years of age, based in a variety of different departments within University Hospital, Coventry and Hospital of St Cross in Rugby.

Placements in the Trust are from one day to a week, providing there is availability, we will try our best to match your requirements to the placements which we offer but this will not be guaranteed. Please note that some departments do have age restrictions.

We require a minimum of 6 weeks’ notice to arrange a placement.

If you are under the age of 17, placements will not involve working in a patient facing environment.

South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust

Provides an invaluable opportunity to experience the ethics and culture of the health based workplace. We currently offer placements to applicants aged 16+ (17+ for Maternity) who live or are educated in Warwickshire.
