What do I need to do an apprenticeship?

How old do I have to be to start an apprenticeship?

  • In the past, Apprenticeships have been known to only be available to 16-24 years olds but in May 2017, the Government removed the upper age limit; allowing Apprenticeships to be open to everyone.

  • You do still have to be over aged 16 years to be eligible for an apprenticeship

  • There is no upper age limit requirement on Apprenticeships meaning more applicants are able to apply for development job roles

What Qualifications do I need?

  • The entry requirements vary with each different level of apprenticeship, training provider, employer and job role

  • You may be expected to have your Maths and English qualifications at grade C and above (Grade 4+ with the new grade system) or equivalent

  • If the Apprenticeship requires Maths and English, the training provider will need a copy of your certificates for evidence prior to starting the course

  • Always check the job requirements to see what level of qualifications are expected prior to applying
